What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation techniques are utilized to help patients feel more comfortable when undergoing dental procedures. Our dentists are able to help determine which dental sedation method may be right for you.
At Arenson Dental & Associates, our team will do everything they can to help patients feel comfortable and relaxed at their dental appointments.
On top of offering sedation options, we will move at your pace, take breaks when you require them and provide calming reassurance as needed.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is inhaled through the nose and mouth. The medication makes patients feel more calm, even though they stay awake and are able to communicate. It could lessen anxiety, increase pain threshold, reduce gag reflex and help the time pass faster.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives are pills or liquids that are prescribed by your dentist. The medication is taken orally prior to your dental appointment. It keeps you awake during the procedure but produces a calming effect that significantly relaxes you.
General Anesthesia
General anesthesia is a controlled state of unconsciousness that eliminates awareness, movement and discomfort during dental treatment. Complex treatments can be completed while you are asleep in one appointment.
